FAQ
What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is a trained professional who creates and leads personalised ceremonies. They are not tied to any set wording , faith or beliefs, which means every ceremony is shaped around you — your story, your values, and what feels right for your family. Whether it’s a wedding, naming, funeral, memorial, or a completely bespoke occasion, a celebrant designs a ceremony that feels genuine, inclusive, and meaningful.
What types of ceremonies do you offer?
I create and lead weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, funerals, memorials, pet committals, and bespoke ceremonies for any life moment you want to mark. If you have something unique in mind, I can design a ceremony just for you.
Are your ceremonies religious?
They can be — but only if you want them to be. I’m not bound to any faith or tradition, so your ceremony can be completely nonreligious, lightly spiritual, or include meaningful elements from your beliefs or culture.
Where can the ceremony take place?
Almost anywhere. Gardens, woodlands, beaches, homes, venues, community spaces — wherever feels right for you as long as you have the owners permission. You have the freedom to choose a location that truly reflects your story.
Is a celebrantled wedding legally binding?
The legal paperwork still needs to be completed separately at a registry office in the same way a birth or death needs to be recorded, so does a marriage. Many couples choose a simple statutory appointment, which takes around 10 minutes and then enjoy their personalised ceremony with me on the day that matters most to them.
Can we include family and friends in the ceremony?
Absolutely. Whether it’s readings, promises, symbolic acts, music, or shared memories, I can help you involve the people who matter most. I also support anyone taking part so they feel confident and comfortable.
Do you write the ceremony for us?
Yes. Every ceremony is written from scratch, based on your stories, values, and wishes so its actually co-produced by you. You’ll have the chance to review the script and make changes so it feels completely right for you.
Can we include symbolic elements and rituals?
Of course. Candle lighting, handfasting, tree planting, sand blending, memory boxes, — or something entirely unique. I’ll help you choose or create elements that feel meaningful and authentic.
Do you travel?
Yes. I work across Berkshire and the surrounding areas, and I’m happy to travel further if needed. Travel costs are discussed clearly in advance.
What happens after we book?
You’ll receive a clear outline of the process, a planning meeting, and ongoing support as your ceremony takes shape. I’m with you from the first conversation to the final words spoken on the day. For any ceremony other than funerals a deposit of 30% is required and a signed contract, please refer to the terms and conditions on my website.
Are you professionally trained and insured?
I am fully insured and am professionally trained. I hold a certificate of Distinction in both funeral and wedding celebrancy which also covers any other type of ceremony. I am a member of the Academy of Professional Celebrants, and I continue to develop my skills through both experience and continued professional learning.
How do we book you?
If you want to book me for a funeral you can either give my details to your Funeral Director who will contact me on your behalf or you can contact me direct. For any other ceremony please contact me direct.
